Orthodontics and Back to School Routines

Owl Orthodontics - Back To SchoolThe summer is quickly winding down, and for the kids of WNY, that means the start of a new school year is beginning. While some kids will be returning to the same school as last year, others will be starting middle school or high school for the first year. We know this can be an anxious time of year. As students adapt to the new surroundings, it’s also important to maintain your personal routines – such as orthodontic visits.

Maintaining regular visits with our office (about every four to eight weeks) is a fundamental part of your orthodontic treatment. It doesn’t matter if you have traditional braces, Invisalign, Damon, InVu or ceramic braces – we still need to monitor and adjust your progress. We will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible. When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.

We realize that most parents would prefer that their children do not miss any school for their orthodontic visits. While this isn’t always possible, we certainly do our best to minimize wait times and keep appointments on time. Additionally we offer a limited number of before school and after school appointments.

Since routine appointments are scheduled approximately six weeks apart, there are only about five office visits throughout the school year. Most of these visits are less than an hour.

It’s also a good idea to pick different times and days of the week for appointments. This way, your child is not missing the same class each time.

We understand that families are busy and “life happens”… if you need to reschedule, please let us know, and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. If possible, please try to give us at least 24 hours notice.

We wish everyone the best of luck this school year and we look forward to seeing you smile! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
